Shankar Das - AKA Shanks - Area Sales Manager

Shankar Das - AKA Shanks - Area Sales Manager

Role at HPP: Area Sales Manager

Year joined HPP: 1997

In the industry since: 1997

What does your role involve?
My day to day duties see me dealing with existing customers, helping them to source the right product or solution to their next installation project. I also get heavily involved in finding new customers and giving them information and peace of mind about HPP and our extensive offering.

As I have regular contact with customers over the phone, via email and in person, I also keep up to date with the ever changing product portfolio so they're the first to know about new launches, offers and discounts.

Best thing about working for HPP?
Every day is different at HPP and there are so many different people to speak to and deal with there's never a boring day to be seen. This is great as it gives plenty of variety within my role which makes it much more enjoyable.

Your biggest challenge since starting at HPP?
My biggest challenge since starting at HPP was to be a successful representative and to be well liked by fellow employees and customers, something I'd like to think I've managed to achieve in my time here.

Biggest market challenges you foresee?
Price wars are always going to be a big challenge within the industry, but at HPP we offer a complete package. Having the cheapest price and not have the service to back up is false economy, which is what makes us quite different to many others within the market.

What did you do before coming to HPP?
Before starting at HPP I Studied at Salford University gaining a B Eng Honours degree in Business and engineering.

Any hidden talents?
I'm a good problem solver, which is always good in a fast paced job like mine, and outside of work I'm possibly the best hair stylist ever!

Favourite hobby?
I'm a big fan of sports and tend to watch and play everything from Football, Badminton and Tennis, as well as going to the gym regularly too.

Favourite Film?
Don't really have a favourite film although I do love horrors, action and comedy so have quite a wide spread of taste.

Dream holiday destination?
Las Vegas would be brilliant, I love the atmosphere of a good casino and a right good gamble. I'm still dreaming of that big win, so hopefully it would become a reality in Vegas!

Biggest lesson in life?
Don't take things for granted or assume you're always right.
