Fay Bowden - Assistant Sales Office Supervisor

Name: Fay Bowden

Year joined HPP: 2003

In the industry since: 1988

Role at HPP: Assistant Sales Office Supervisor & Health and Safety Representative for the sales department.

What does your role involve?:
As department supervisor, a key part of my role is to ensure the smooth running of the sales office and covering a variety of tasks as and when needed. This entails the management and co-ordination of sales staff; ensuring that the sales office is adequately manned, assisting with the training of new members of staff, coordinating staff holidays, and vetting customer orders.

In addition to this, I also generate a variety of management reports, as well as frequently assisting the team in sales orientated tasks such as taking orders, answering enquires, and covering the trade counter.

Best thing about working for HPP & why:
I enjoy working at HPP as I feel like a valued member of staff; working with a supportive management team and a very friendly team of people around me.

There is also the added bonus of living near to the office, which means I don't have to travel a great distance to work!

Your biggest challenge since starting at HPP:
HPP's vast and extensive range of products is always expanding rapidly. It can be quite challenging to learn about each offering, remembering individual specifications and features, but I enjoy the challenge!

Biggest market challenges you foresee:
Cost of materials seems to be one of the biggest challenges for any operator within the market as we're always keen to offer our customers the best possible prices, coupledwith outstanding customer service.

What did you do before coming to HPP?:
Before starting work at HPP, I worked for a local timber merchant for 13 years. Starting as an office junior and later progressing to trade counter, sales and accounts. This gave me excellent experience for the new role I took on at HPP.

Any hidden talents? :
I've worked in a bar for over 25 years and absolutely love the work and people you get to meet.

I also enjoy all aspects of cooking and baking in my spare time!

Favourite hobby:
Rugby league is my all time favourite hobby thanks to being brought up in a rugby family, and I'm also quite partial to eating kebabs and a good curry!

What is your Favourite Film and why:
I love "East is East", for no other reason than it tickles me!

Dream holiday destination:
I would love to travel to the USA. The States is so vast and there's so much to do, you could spend months there and still not have even scratched the surface!

Biggest lesson in life:
Cherish and be thankful for what you have and live life to the max!
