A Hat-Trick Of Successful Work Placement Experience

As the current academic year ends, we've recently hosted a hat-trick of work placement students to give them hands-on experience of the world of work.

A-Level student Harriet Craig spent time in several departments, while GCSE pupils Kaiden Smith and Charlotte Booth, both aged 15, worked in our Engineering and Marketing departments, respectively.

Harriet is doing A-Level business studies, economics and geography alongside core maths at The Blue Coat Sixth Form in Oldham and is contemplating a future in finance or marketing via a degree apprenticeship when she finishes college in 2026.

Her placement took in our accounts, sales, transport and marketing departments, where she helped Dan Mounsey, Marketing and Business Development Director, and Marketing Manager, Kenika Gumbs, on their presentation for the Oldham Sixth Form College Futures Day.

Kenika says: "Harriet is a confident and mature 17-year-old, she was happy to get on with any of the tasks we set her and was equally happy calling suppliers or customers."

Here is Harriet speaking about her time at HPP:

Another placement student helping out in the marketing department was Charlotte Booth from North Chadderton School, who used her creative streak to work on social media posts, graphics, taking photographs and helping with videography.

Charlotte is hoping to study textile design at Oldham Sixth Form College on completing her GCSEs next year.

Here is Charlotte sharing her experience at HPP:

Completing the work placement hat trick was Kaiden Smith from The Elton High School, in Bury, who was given a hands-on insight into the day-to-day operations of our engineering team.

Here is Kaiden talking about his experience:

Kenika adds: "We'd like to say a big thank you to all three students for their conscientious approach and hard work with us. They all did a great job, and we're delighted that all three said they'd like to come back and do more work experience with us again sometime in the future. It's great to hear! We wish them all the very best on their journeys ahead."
