Ukraine Fundraising Day Raises £1121.73

A couple of weeks ago we held a company-wide fundraising day to help children embroiled in the conflict in Ukraine. Thanks to everyone involved, from both the Oldham and Sheffield branches, we managed to raise a staggering £1121.73!

This money is going to UNICEF, the United Nations Children's Fund, whose appeal is providing funds to support Ukraine's 7.5 million children caught up in the growing humanitarian crisis caused by Russia's invasion.

Staff were invited to donate £2 to wear blue and yellow - the colours of the Ukraine flag - for the day, while BBQ, cake sale and money-raising football scratchcards circulated the Oldham and Sheffield sites, bolstering the total.

The fundraising day was the idea of HPP's Managing Director Keith Wardrope: "The war in Ukraine is causing an immediate and growing threat to the lives and wellbeing of the country's children. We wanted to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine, especially the children, which is why we chose UNICEF as the charity. We felt it was only right that we did something to raise money, to do our bit to support those who have been forced to flee their homes."

The BBQ food was provided by Mark Staines, who runs Grill Smoke Mobile BBQ in his spare time, when not designing stuff in the Marketing department. Mark and Amy Fairbank (Marketing Coordinator) both helped to cook and distribute the flame-grilled goodies from outside the Oldham trade counter.

Amy said "We had a really successful day and managed to raise over £1120 which is great. We were lucky with the weather for the BBQ which made the day even better".
