What does your role involve?:
My role at HPP involves managing our fleet of thirteen, 18 ton trucks and Transit vans which carry out the majority of deliveries for HPP products. I also coordinate and oversee deliveries of products by third party transport firms to ensure orders going further a field are efficient, and able to meet the customer's deadlines.
Best thing about working for HPP?
Even with the continuous growth of the business it still feels like working for a family firm. My previous role before coming to HPP was for a large international firm, in which staff were made to feel like just a number, it's totally the opposite at HPP. We speak to the directors on a daily basis, know them well and always address each other by first names - the place just has a great feel to it making it a nice environment to work in.
Your biggest challenge since starting at HPP?
My biggest challenge since starting working here has been to make sure we have enough trained drivers and the right quantity and types of vehicle to handle the various products that we have to deliver.
As the company is growing and providing more products to our customers, this is still a factor that needs careful consideration, but we're pleased with the fleet we've got which carry out thousands of deliveries every month.
Biggest market challenges you foresee?
Our biggest market challenge from a transport perspective would have to be based on the types of vehicles we use in order to ensure our delivery service is fast, efficient and of a high standard. We've managed to ensure these high levels so far, and as product ranges and customer bases grow, close attention to detail will be needed to ensure this continues to be a real strong point of our business.
What did you do before coming to HPP?
I previously worked as a Transport Manager at a large International company for over 20 years before making the move to HPP. This role gave me great experience in handling the everyday tasks and challenges I'm faced with on a day to day basis.
Any hidden talents?
No.
Favourite hobby?
Some time ago I was a very keen mountain biker, cycling along trails such as the Edale Trail right through to Pennine Way which was fantastic, especially when the weather was being kind. These days I'm quite a keen walker, often taking our family dog along for the journey!
Favourite Film?
Great Escape - For me it shows what can be achieved when a group of people are determined enough.
Dream holiday destination?
A World Cruise is my perfect holiday destination. It'd be great seeing the Panama Canal and Sydney Harbour to see the engineering ingenuity involved.
Biggest lesson in life?
If a jobs worth doing then it's worth doing well.
